Mississippi Severe Storms Tornadoes 2017

Severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding devastated areas in Mississippi from January 20 to January 21, 2017.  The President made a major disaster declaration for Mississippi on January 25, 2017.

For DR 4295, the January storms and flooding, Individual and Household Assistance is available to those in Forrest, Lamar, Lauderdale and Perry Counties.

Disaster Legal Services has been implemented for these tornadoes, storms and flooding in Mississippi.  The hotline number below applies to this activation. It is provided through FEMA under 44 CFR 206.164

Note:  THE FEMA APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 26, 2017.  Apply to FEMA to trigger the SBA Disaster loan process. THE SBA APPLICATION DEADLINE IS ALSO MARCH 26, 2017.

Residents and businesses affected by the January storms and flooding can apply for government disaster relief benefits online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov. 

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY TO FEMA IS MARCH 26, 2017.  YOU MUST PUT IN YOUR SBA APPLICATION BY MARCH 26, 2017 TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. 

Individuals, including those who use 711 relay or VRS, can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) while those who use TTY can call 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. EDT seven days a week until further notice.

Another option is to register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov  or via web-enabled phone or tablet at m.fema.gov.
